Welcome to the Studio newsletter. So many exciting things are going on at the Goodrich Vocal Studio!

Michael just finished working with Oscar De La Hoya, in preparation for his first performance on the Tonight Show. This boxer turned singer surprised us all with his good vocals and catchy songs on his Grammy nominated debut album.

 

Sutton Foster just finished a long run as Eponine in Les Miserables. She will be heading the cast of the brand new musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" on Broadway this summer - appearing as Millie!

Scott Totten, guitar player and singer for the Beach Boys, performs all over the world sharing in some of the most memorable songs ever known

Vaneza Leza Pitynski, co-star of Nick at Night's "The Garcia Brothers" has her own CD out. Pick it up at www.vanezalezapitynski.com. We think you'll enjoy her stylish singing, upbeat songs, and beautiful ballads!

Goodrich Vocal students dance as well as sing! Gari Lynn Wollard just finished a tour with MC Hammer.

Jennifer's student, Shanelle Workman just landed the lead on Disney's new television show "Absolutely Psychic," due out sometime this year. For a young lady, Chanel has credits a mile long including Young Cosette for 4 years on Broadway, plus a regular, reoccurring role on Murphy Brown. She is currently being pursued by major labels to make her own CD. Her talent coupled with her charm and personality make her destined to be a huge success!

Michelle Molchanov went out on a year-long world tour with the Backstreet Boys.

Seth Riggs, founder of Speech Level Singing, is in New York for two months working solely with Michael Jackson on his new album due out sometime later this year. There's news that Britny Spears wants to hire Seth for her world tour coming up this summer.

One of Goodrich Vocal Studio's youngest stars, Ester Panebianco, just played the lead in Annie. She brought the house down with her powerful voice - and she didn't have to yell the high notes…go figure!

Don't miss Actorfest 2001 at the Hilton Universal City & Towers, Universal City, CA. It's Saturday, April 21st from 9-4. Backstage West, AFTRA, and SAG are all sponsoring the event. Michael and Jennifer will be there to represent Speech Level Singing and bring this popular technique to over 1600 actors from Los Angeles and all around the world. Besides helping people with their singing voice, Speech Level Singing assists many actors with their speaking voice for film, television, and theatre. Michael and Jennifer are hoping Seth will return from New York in time to join the festivities! Grand Prize voice lessons will be given away! The Goodrich Vocal Studio will be expanding to the Conejo Valley area this spring, where they can bring theSLS technique to Augora, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Ojai, Calabassas, San Fernando Valley, and Thousand Oaks. Also in May, the Goodriches will be attending a weekend seminar sponsored by Education through Music with guest speaker Joseph Chilton Pierce. Michael and Jennifer will be bringing you some exciting information from this highly regarded seminar. Look for it in an upcoming issue of "The Art and Business of Singing" under "Mentor of the Month."

 

You can catch a glimpse of Kevin Tancharoen dancing with Britny Spears on the new Pepsi commercial, and an upcoming Jessica Simpson video.

Hillary Duff, star of Disney's hit show "Lizzy McGuire" has been spotted at the Goodrich Vocal Studio preparing her voice with plans of recording her first CD.

You can't miss the hype on Lauren Frost, the very talented singer who played young Babs in the Barbra Streisand Valentine's Day Special. Lauren works with Randy Buescher (a Speech Level Singing Associate) in Chicago and has worked with Jennifer here in Los Angeles.

The 5th Annual SLSI Vocal Workshop 2001 will be in Los Angeles, July 30-August 12. This workshop presents master classes with top professionals from the recording industry and musical theatre. All participants will have the opportunity to work with Seth himself and have 2 weeks of lessons with certified SLS instructors from all over the world. All students will enjoy performing in a recital the last Sunday of the conference. This workshop is vital for singers that want to better themselves vocally, musically, educationally, and professionally. Michael just returned from teaching in Utah and will be flying up to the Voice Studio in San Francisco once a week to teach beginning May 2001.

On May 12, 2001, Michael stepped in for Seth Riggs (who was still on the road assisting Michael Jackson) at the Vocal Symposium 2001 at John Anson Ford Theater in Hollywood, CA. Look for a video of the Symposium later in the year.

The Goodrich Vocal Studio keeps on expanding. Recently hiring a new studio administrator, Joyce Adkins, to help schedule appointments, answer questions, and help the Goodrich Vocal Studio as it continues to grow.
